When we mounted the supercharger onto the engine block it all looked even worse.  No way would the elbow fit.  We had to do some measuring and take some pictures and then put the car back to stock.

I scouted around for solutions and found a local company that could supply some very robust 3" industrial hose to give us a flexible link between the throttle and flow meter.  Another local company that could make up a custom metal piece to go part way along the tube and provide the 3/4" and 3/8" connections for a couple of vacuum pipes. Living in a big city does have its advantages.

A few days later we then had to drive down to Billing without a supercharger and see what other good advice we could get. And I had to look at the supercharged and turbocharged beauties once again.  It was all the more frustrating as I knew that after Billing I had a large number of overseas business trips and a lot of work to do around the house so I wouldn't get another go at the install for a few weeks.
Even with just the airflow meter in place it's totally clear that the aluminium elbow fouls on just about everything.
Like a magpie I have collected a fine range of tubes, hose barbs and slightly rusty exhaust pipes. Surely I must be able to solve the problem with just these and a whole load of jubilee clips!
